5 ♐ [Video] (Backdated to a little earlier in the event) Alex/Nepeta/Equius chain-shenanigans

[Up in the library, Equius has nabbed some blank scrolls, stolen some paints from the Bower, and is messily finger painting some rather suggestive artwork depicting an extremely muscular half-horse-half-humanoid creature.

A beast of true muscle.

Suddenly, a tight metal shackle appears over his wrist, much to his surprise and displeasure. When the video function activates, any reader will be treated to a brief glimpse of some very... awkward art. You won't get a chance to stare for too long as there's suddenly a fist with a pair of cuffs on the screen.

Why can't a STRONG noble be left alone in this intolerable keep, to appreciate some of the finer tastes in life? What benefit could one possibly get from inconveniencing me any further?

There was not much of an alternative when all of the adults were off conquering other planets in the galaxy. None of them could stay behind, on the home world.

And yes, my blue veins are second only to the Grand Highblood in terms of royalty.

Your culture's hierarchy is based on blood colour?

[Oh, this explains so much.]

Well that doesn't seem very fair, does it?

Why wouldn't it be fair? It's not based entirely on blood alone. There's a certain level of strength and aggressiveness that comes into play, as well. It just so happens that those who are bluer in blood color also happen to be naturally stronger and much more hostile.

[Except Equius, of course. He's a pacifist gentletroll.]

Being stronger and more hostile doesn't always make you better. In fact, that sort of thing usually ends up getting in the way.

Oh really, now? How exactly would being strong enough to demolish any obstacle be any sort of... obstacle?

Because when you put that together with hostility, you get a certain brashness that lends itself to getting a person in trouble.

You're already showing that cockiness yourself. There's a reason paper beats rock, you know.

This "certain brashness" as you see it is one of the reasons we've conquered as many galaxies as we have. An empire cannot stand on weak, passive legs.

...

When has paper ever beaten a stone? What are you talking about?

Haven't you ever played Rock Paper Scissors? It's a game. Rock breaks scissors, scissors cut paper, and paper covers rock.

I've never heard of any situation where paper would ever defeat rock. Game or not, what would covering a stone in paper do? I'd hardly be incapacitated if I were to be wrapped in anything.

...You sound just like Uvo. Never mind, I should know better than to argue with reinforcement types.

This Uvo sounds intelligent enough. For a human, that is. You are not the only one who seems to think it is better to show restraint in this keep, though. To be fair, I am holding back much more than I normally would, for the sake of my moirail.

Uvo was hotheaded and it got him killed.

I'm not going to pretend I know what a moirail is, but that's probably a good idea. There's no point in doing damage when the damage isn't permanent. It'll only get you in trouble.
